Our team is excited to share that our member portal is more intuitive and easier to use than ever before.
We offer our members prerecorded classes from past conventions accompanied with quizzes for continuing education credits.
IFDA Convention Continuing Education
IFDA records select speaker sessions from the Annual Convention and makes these courses available for continuing education credit.
Each recorded course includes a quiz that must be completed to receive the applicable continuing education credit. Once the course and quiz are successfully completed, the appropriate CE credit will be issued.
Insurance
Iowa Funeral Directors Association members can fulfill their continuing education requirements through live webinars with no exam required. With up to three courses offered daily and complimentary rescheduling at any time, completing your credits is both flexible and convenient.
When taking the IFDA Funeral Director CE’s please note the day, time, topic, and speaker to get credit for funeral director CE’s. Please note that the 8-hour Funeral Director special is for funeral director CE’s ONLY.

WilbertEDU is a great source for IFDA members to receive continuing education from live-webinars. These interactive webinars qualify as in-person continuing education credits.
Removal Technician Training
A mortuary removal technician plays an important role in Iowa funeral service by providing safe, respectful, and professional transportation of deceased individuals from hospitals, residences, nursing facilities, accident scenes, and other locations to funeral homes, medical examiner facilities, or other authorized locations. Removal technicians work closely with funeral directors and other professionals to ensure each transfer is handled with dignity, discretion, and compassion, while following applicable Iowa laws, regulations, and funeral service procedures.
We offer removal technician courses and certificates through a live interactive course. The participants must be associated and employed with an IFDA Firm Member to complete course and receive a certificate.

Crematory Operator
In a major win for IFDA's advocacy efforts, SF 563, a bill to create crematory operator license administered under the Board of Mortuary Science was signed and passed. IFDA has long advocated for sensible regulation of the profession, and this bill closes the gap between licensed funeral directors and those unlicensed persons who own and operate a cremation establishment.
FOR LICENSED FUNERAL DIRECTORS
Simply fill out an application to obtain the crematory operator license.
FOR UNLICENSED INDIVIDUALS
The applicant must pass a specialized course in cremation from a nationally recognized organization.
