The Funeral Directors of Flight 232 Wins Audience Choice Award at Sioux City International Film Festival

We are incredibly excited to announce our documentary “The Funeral Directors of Flight 232” was nominated to be a part of the Sioux City International Film Festival and won the 2026 Audience’s Choice for best documentary.

Winning the Audience Choice Award is an honor that means more than simply receiving an award. This was an award chosen by the audience and that makes it especially meaningful. The people sitting in that room are the very people we hoped to reach with this story.

For the audience to hear the story of the funeral directors who responded to the Flight 232 tragedy in Sioux City in 1989 and then choose it as their favorite is incredibly humbling.

It tells us that this story matters.

It reminds us that the sacrifices and compassion of those funeral directors should never be forgotten. They stepped forward during one of the most unimaginable tragedies and demonstrated what our profession does best - serve, care, bring dignity, and help families and communities through the unthinkable.

And perhaps most importantly, it reinforces why we need to continue telling these stories.

The funeral directors of Flight 232 were there when they were needed most. Their legacy deserves to be remembered. We are incredibly honored to have their story recognized by the very audience we serve.

This award belongs to the 125 funeral directors that showed up, the 7 that told their story and the FDL film crew, Noah Williams, David Welch and Rob Davidson. We are honored to tell the story and to have represented you all this weekend.

Thank you!
